Ben Affleck, set to return as 'Batman' in standalone 'The Flash' movie

It's been confirmed that Ben Affleck will make a return as Batman, after dropping the role in 2019.

Reports say the actor is set to reprise his role as Batman, in the upcoming movie, 'The Flash', which is set for release in 2022.

Andy Muschietti, who is set to direct the movie, gave the confirmation in a recent interview, where he also cited the connection between Affleck and the lead of the movie, Ezra Miller, as one of the reasons the actor has been brought back as Batman.

“He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie," he told Vanity Fair.

"The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before.

“It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in."

Ben Affleck played Batman in 2016's 'Batman Vs Superman' and 'Justice League', released in 2017, before leaving the role, citing pressure as the reason he quit.
