Elon Musk becomes fourth richest man in the world, after making more than $7 billion in one day

South African businessman, Elon Musk, has become the fourth richest man in the world, according to the Bloomberg daily index.

The index is a daily ranking of the 500 richest men in the world, based on how much money they make, and it shows Elon Musk made $7.8 billion in just one day, after his company, Tesla's shares grew by 11% between Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, 18.

Musk is now worth a total of $84.8 billion, after making more than $57 billion in 2020 alone.

Like Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos, most of Musk's earnings this year have come from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which has forced many to move their activity online, and consequently, driving tech shares up.

Only Bezos ($73 billion) has gained more money than him this year.

Musk is now just behind Facebook owner, Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft boss, Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos on Bloomberg's list of the richest people in the world.
